Chapter 1

I remember my birthday, just before I was about to go outside and blow out my candles. My mother, Bethany, pulled me to the side and leant down. 'Harry,' she said, 'your life will be filled with hardship and troubles, but always remember this, the smallest person can make the biggest difference,' I nodded and gave her a hug before racing outside. Now as I get ready to leave for university, I can't help wonder what will happen, away from the safety of my home and family.
Dad gave me a hug, trying his hardest to not show emotion. Mum on the other hand had been crying all day.
'Do you have to go to university?'Why not stay here and watch your brother or sister grow up?' she asked, rubbing her stomach.
'Leave the boy, he knows what he's doing,' Dad said, his voice cracking. I sighed and gave mum another hug.
'Don't be sad yet, your driving me there!' I joked. Mum giggled and I picked up my suitcase, heavy with all my clothes and priceless memories. Opening the car door, I threw them in and got into the car. Dad stood back and watched us drive away, waving sadly before vanishing back into the house.

The drive from Desdirata to La Vista University took about 2 hours. 2 long, painful hours, listening to mother go on and on about what I was to do and what I wasn't to do. I was so tempted to say, Mum! Look I'm a nerd, I'm going to be inside my rental house most of the time, playing video games. Not getting drunk and impregnating girls! Eventually we arrived at my rental house that Dad had payed for. It was small, only had two bedrooms upstairs but as far as I was concernced it would do for my time at university.
'B-b-be good Harry, get good marks,' Mum cried from the car. I turned, waved and watched her drive
off.
I walked up the steps and dumped my suitcase on the floor. The furniture was old and outdated but I didn't really care. A familiar noise floated up the stairs and into my room. I had an email, most likely from the university. I went downstairs and pulled up a chair at the computer. There were 2 emails, both from the university. One was to pick a registra. I wanted to be a scientist when I left so I chose Physics. Mother always said it was a nerdy subject, maybe it would help me find a few friends. The other email said that I would be sharing my house with a roomate and that the roomate would arrive in a few hours. I almost fell off my chair.
'A roomate!' I yelled at the screen. I hope its a nerd like me. I really do..

With a sinking feeling in my gut, I stood up from the computer and collapsed on the couch, controller in my hand. Perhaps a game will calm me down, I though to myself. Turning on the tv, I felt myself sink into the couch and slowly but surely begin to relax. But the relaxtion was short lived. The game was only making it worse. I let out an irritated sigh and turned it off. Standing up I cast my eyes over the small house for something else to do.

But no matter what I did the nerves kept up their silent attack on me. Eventually I just gave up and collapsed into a dining chair and watched the clock.
I watched the clock hands as they slowly went around the clock. On many occasions I almost fell asleep but when my head hit the table I woke up and cursed. The clock struck 1:00 and I heard a car pull up and a door open and shut. A few muttered words followed and then the sound of footsteps coming up the pathway. I watched the door handle turn and the door swing open.
The sight standing before me made my jaw drop and my eyes pop out of my skull. What the hell have you just gotten yourself into!!!! My mind screamed at me. Unfortuantly I had to agree with it...
